Lauren & Glen

The forecast was rain, wind and snow, but what we got was a rockin’ good time with Lauren and Glen, their besties and a big, red double decker bus! We even enjoyed blue skies and sunshine for most of the day! Lauren and Glen are a Melbourne couple who met in Greece but wanted to celebrate their wedding in Lauren’s home town of Hobart. Friends and family flew in from all over Australia and overseas and we had the privilege of documenting a wonderful occasion, full of laughter, smiles and some sensational dance floor boogie.

Lauren was gorgeous, Glen was stylin (complete with T&CO cuff links) and the whole bridal party scrubbed up a treat. I can assure you that this was a real wedding, not a modeling shoot. ;)

Lauren and Glen were married in Hobart’s adorable St Joseph’s church and celebrated their reception in the world renowned Henry Jones Art Hotel. At this point I should stop rambling and share some photos - a hard task with so many great ones to choose from… I’ll do my best to narrow it down.

Introducing the Macbook Pro

This post is coming to you from my brand spankin new 17″ Macbook Pro. What a beast! For those of you who are at all interested in the technical details, the system snapshot reads something like this:

17″ Macbook Pro
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1680 x 1050 pixels
2GB Ram
160GB hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 256MB SDRAM

It’s the ideal portable photography workstation, so I’m stoked with it.

Matthew & Rachelle

The wet weather finally abated and we had a sensational sunny day yesterday to share with Matthew and Rachelle on their wedding day. The ceremony was in the beautiful grounds of Runnymede House in New Town and they celebrated their reception at the Hobart Function Centre on the waterfront. We even had time for a leisurely Derwent River cruise - what a great way to transport the bridal party to an excited reception party!

It was a busy, fun-filled day with lots of smiles and emotion. Rachelle was stunning and Matthew didn’t scrub up too bad, himself. Their love for each other was evident throughout the whole day and we just know these two are going to really enjoy this next chapter of their lives together. Thanks for letting us share it with you!

Before I forget, here’s some quick shots!

A night at the tennis!

We made our annual pilgrimage to the Domain Tennis Centre for the Moorilla Hobart International, which is a Women’s WTA tour event. I decided to take my camera along (for the first time) to try my hand at some covert sports photography from the stands. Let’s just say, I don’t think the Australian Open is going to be breaking my door down to acquire my services next week!

It was tough shooting from the stands in low light, but by the end of the night I was getting the swing of things. I’d love the opportunity to get courtside for some proper experimentation sometime…

It was semi-finals night and we saw the 2nd singles semi along with the 2nd doubles semi. The singles was a pretty one sides affair with Russian teenager Anna Chakvetadze easily accounting for India’s Sania Mirza.

The doubles was far more entertaining, with the pairing of Anabel Medina Garrigues & Virginia Ruano Pascual downing Lourdes Dominguez Lino & Flavia Pennetta in three hard fought sets.

A few photos of Flavia Pennetta. I’m not sure why her photos turned out the best, perhaps she moves slower than the others…

I might have a better look through the shots when I get a chance and post up some different crops and angles. Enjoy!

Sam & Bridgette

The elements were up against us again, but we teamed up with an enthusiastic bridal party who rose to the occasion for Sam and Bridgette. We had some fun with a Dodge Ram who gladly spun them up for a photo opportunity, a wedding first for me! Check out the photo below.

The ceremony was in the beautiful grounds of the Cascade Visitors Centre in South Hobart and we headed across the road for some shots on the Brewery grounds and gardens as well.

We’d like to thank Sam and Bridgette for letting us be part of their big day and wish them much happiness in their married life together!

Spose I should throw up some shots!

Michael & Tania

We woke up to the sound of rain this morning, but someone was looking after our bride and groom because it cleared and brightened up just in time for their outdoor ceremony in the picturesque grounds of the Tasmanian Motor Yacht Club in Lindisfarne.

Despite the gloomy weather, our bridal party was full of fun and energy and we had a great time sharing in their special day. We wish Michael and Tania all the best in their married life together. Have a great honeymoon, guys!

A few of my favorite shots at first glance.

The unexpected portrait…

I was outside this evening doing some experimentation and testing with my 50mm f1.4 lens and a lightmeter when our dog Zeke wandered into the shot to check out what I was up to as I was firing a few shots away.
It was an unexpected portrait, but I think it turned out pretty sweet!

LaCie BIG disk

I recently got myself a 500GB LaCie d2 Hard Drive Extreme with Triple Interface for general photo storage and backup. I’ve gotta say that this thing is a very cool piece of technology! Triple interface (FireWire 800, FireWire 400, Hi-Speed & USB 2.0) means I can use it just about anywhere and it is super silent and super fast - a great combination. It’s also small enough to carry home with me for some after hours work.

It looks pretty nice too.
