Alex & Ebeny

Alex and Ebeny booked me to shoot their wedding this April, so we thought it would be fun to catch up and have an ‘Engagement Shoot’! We spent an hour at Howrah beach whilst the sun dropped down behind Mt Wellington - the light was really soft and beautiful. Alex and Ebeny were great sports and jumped at the opportunity to get in the water and have some fun and we captured some great shots in the process.

I’m really looking forward to shooting their upcoming wedding, I think we’re going to have a lot of fun!

Thought I would share a few of my initial favorites, even though I haven’t looked through them all properly, these are the ones that jumped out at me.

Jonathan & Karen

The extreme wedding weather continued, but this time it was the sweltering heat! Jonathan and Karen chose the beautiful Anniversary Arch in the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens as the setting for their wedding ceremony. It was an simple and intimate celebration where Jonathan and Karen were joined in marriage amongst their closest friends and family amongst the amazing gardens complete with the musical ambiance of a string quartet.

A little bird tells me that Jonathan and Karen are departing for a real life African Safari today, so as well as wishing them all the best in their married life together, we wish them safe travels and expect to see them back soon with their own collection of amazing African photos. I’m hoping for a shot of each of the ‘Big Five’ at a bare minimum… Enjoy the trip!

And now, some wedding photos!

Sign up for regular updates!

Sorry I’ve been slack this week, and haven’t posted anything… I’m busying myself behind the scenes preparing a brand new online web site and portfolio, online ordering system and heaps of other sweet additions to the Dan Cripps Photography online exprience. There’s no definite scheduled date as to when all this will go live, but it’ll be sooner rather than later - whatever that means…

In the meantime, make sure you sign up to my email subscriber list so you can be amongst the first to know when the new site goes live. I also send out updates from time to time regarding all the weird and wonderful photography-ish things we’ve been up to.

We’ve got heaps of fun shoots planned for the near future, along with some more wonderful Tasmanian summer weddings. I’ve even scored a gig to second shoot for Jason Cole in Sydney this March. I’m stoked to have been offered the opportunity to shoot alongside Jason, as I’ve admired both his wedding and commercial work for some time. Jason is one of only a handful of photographers in the country who packs a Broncolor lighting system at all his wedding assignments, that alone makes for an interesting day! Jason is also a respected and very experienced fashion/modeling shooter and regularly shoots for publications like FHM and Ralph. It’s going to be a fun weekend getting to know Jason and helping him capture a wedding day, I’ll be sure to post more about that after the event!

If you want to be kept in the loop, make sure you sign up:

Tim, Anna & the Boys!

We were lucky enough to score an invite to our good friends place for lunch today. Tim, Anna and their two boys Lachie & Jack have recently moved into a new property overlooking Ralph’s Bay and they have got the most sensational water views! We’re so stoked for them, they’ve bought an amazing property and we know they’ll transform it into a wonderful home.

It was also a great opportunity to take some photos of the whole family enjoying their very own private beach, even Bear the dog joined in the fun! I thought I’d throw up a few of my favorite shots from the afternoon. Check them out!

Amazing Eyes…

So what does a photographer do with a summer Saturday when he’s not booked for a wedding? Takes photos anyway!

Chontelle, my wife and proud owner of the most beautiful eyes on the planet was my muse today. We experimented in low available light (shooting ISO 1600 handheld at 1/60 wide open at f1.4) and I ended up with some shots I was stoked with. I can’t be too proud of myself, though - it would be harder to take a bad photo of Chontelle. I hope she reads this. :)

There’s gotta be some brownie points accumulating…

I thought I would share a couple with those of you who drop by. Keep in mind that jealousy is wasted energy. She’s all mine.

Aren’t they just the most amazing eyes!?
