Renovation Update

We’re still battling away after hours to get the new space looking good! We’re nearly done with the painting, we’ve re-plastered the ‘cinema wall’, which will be painted soon so we can mount the plasma. The new furniture arrives early next week and my new desk/workstation is due to be installed on Monday.

Can’t wait to post up the ‘after’ shots!

Renovations!

The Dan Cripps Photography empire is expanding - across the hall!

We’ve secured some additional studio space, so we’re currently knee-deep renovating and modifying it so it’s nice and comfortable for our clients (and us). We’ve got a big plasma TV on the way (amongst other fun things) so we can host viewing sessions where you can kick back on the new couch, enjoy a hot chocolate and enjoy the show! We will also be transitioning all our portrait session ordering to the new viewing area. We have found that this method gives our clients a better feel for the images and how they look nice and big on the wall. We’re expecting a bit summer for portraits sessions, we’re already getting a lot of enquiries for family shoots and kid’s portrait sessions, so it pays to book in sooner rather than later!
Of course, the Hobart wedding season is just around the corner and we’ll be inviting all of our newlyweds to join us (after their honeymoons) in the new studio for a viewing session, as well!

Stage one of the renovations are looking a little like this:

Dave & Angelique

I’ll be shooting Dave and Angelique’s wedding in October, so we caught up with them this afternoon for an engagement shoot. We headed into the city and found a few great spots and grabbed some relaxed portraits. Engagement shoots are a fantastic idea for everyone involved as it’s a great opportunity to get to know your photographer and for your photographer to get a feel for how you interact with each other.

Here’s a sample of some of the shots we got today!

Bianca + Bub

This morning we caught up with Bianca for some maternity shots in and around her home. Bianca and Dan’s little one is due in just a couple of weeks, so it was the perfect time to get some shots of that belly before it’s occupant finally emerges. Bianca was a real trooper and even braved the cool outside temperatures in a pair of little shorts for us! We got some great shots and thought we should share a selection of our favorites here on the blog. Enjoy!

A different type of photograph…

First up, a huge apology for my lack of recent blog posts. We’ve had heaps on the go lately, so unfortunately the blog is sometimes the first duty which suffers. Now that I’ve apologised and you’ve all forgiven me, let’s get all updated on all the weird and wonderful happenings in this crazy world in which we exist.

I don’t often post other people’s photos on this blog, but in this case I thought I would make an exception.

DJ!

Yes, it’s true. We are continually expanding our business operations and figured that kids are cheap workers!

But seriously, we’re absolutely stoked that we’ve been blessed with a little one. We’ve affectionately named our baby ‘DJ’ for the duration of his/her time in the womb. So if you see any future references to DJ, you’ll know what that’s all about. DJ stands for ‘Daniel Junior’, in case you’re wondering… There’s no way I would do that to a kid post-womb, but whilst it’s tucked safely away in Chon’s belly, no harm done. ;) We should probably make ‘DJ’ interchangeable with ‘CJ’ so we don’t give our baby an identity crisis in utero.

Exciting times ahead, I’m sure. I have already started to pro actively make a conscious effort to enjoy my weekend sleep-ins as much as humanly possible. Evidently this weekly ritual comes to an abrupt end in the not too distant future.

DJ is due to breath fresh Tasmanian air for the first time late February 2008. We’ll keep you posted. :)

So what else has been happening?

I’m glad you asked! In a word, stacks. We’ve recently acquired some new space for our premises (right next door) so the Dan Cripps Photography will be moving (all of 10 metres) in the coming weeks. The new space will free us up to have a dedicated indoor shooting space as well as a separate meeting area, complete with brand new 50″ plasma TV where all my clients can view their photos whilst enjoying a hot drink and popcorn. Fun!

We’re also about to launch our brand new online shopping cart where all your friends and family can easily order as many of your wedding photos as they want, without bothering you! We look after you, eh!? ;) The cart is super easy to use and allows you all the freedom you need to make your purchases. You simply browse the photos, choose the ones you want, how big you want them, what processing you like and where you would like them sent. The credit card payment is processed and we ship your order to you within a week or two. How easy is that?

We’ve got some cool portrait sessions in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the blog for some samples!
